New to "The Island" but not new to the area, this family was ready to create the perfect place to enjoy watching their family grow. Not in the traditional sense, but instead in the form of grandchildren! They like to call this their "gather together" house. A place that provides young and old areas to dine, play, and relax while still sharing the same space.
Our creation of this Open Concept floor plan is what facilitated that dream into reality. Thoughtful decisions about how to transition ceiling heights, door heights, and openings are what help define each unique space. It was important to be able to feature the art they had both curated and commissioned from local artists. So we made sure to install art lighting over each of those key areas.
The color palette was inspired by the stunning Brazilian granite they chose. It was easy to pull those same cream, taupe, brown and black colors across the space to create the natural and relaxed feel the family desired. From the outside to the inside, the soothing color palette in combination with intentional use of texture creates a dynamic that feels at once elevated and relaxed.
Elegant lighting, hand-made rugs, and furniture that fulfills the functional as well as the aesthetic needs is what makes this home one that will serve this family for decades to come.
